The Future Starts Heredoesn’t mean the past is discounted. No, quite the contrary. It means building on the 70 years of Morris Catholic High School history. It speaks to our desire to keep making a difference in all of our communities throughout New Jersey. The words also point us to the future, one where we must continue evolving to meet the changing needs of students in a non-static world. The constant throughout our history: the high quality of our education and the dedication of our teachers, coaches, religious instructors, and administrators. It’s the belief of our community that making a high quality Catholic education accessible and affordable – so young people can lay a foundation for a happy, healthy, meaningful life – remains a worthy mission. Our alumni, parents, and friends have always demonstrated their commitment to this idea through their generosity.
That brings us to the here and now and new opportunities to band together to invest in the educational resources that are strategically needed so we can continue having an impact in the lives of young students and launch Morris Catholic into the future, where we are a leader among the very best Catholic college preparatory high schools in New Jersey. We’re grateful for your kind and essential support with any of the following priorities most meaningful to you.
From the President...“We’re thinking big about Morris Catholic’s next 70 years. Our bold five-year strategic plan shows that with a focus on further strengthening our academic excellence and the student experience. Your gift powers something special – the intellectual, spiritual, and physical growth of our students and expands the footprint and impact of the school. Each gift strengthens Morris Catholic, our future, and those of our students. There are a variety of ways you can join the community and support what we’re building together.” – Mr. Brian Vohden, President of Morris Catholic
Morris Catholic High School has established an endowment, which successful private schools rely on to meet the growing financial aid needs of students and their families. Donors can make a gift to fund a named endowed scholarship. The gift becomes part of the endowment and is permanently invested. Earnings are used to award an annual scholarship for a student with demonstrated financial need. Gifts like these provide a perpetual benefit to the school.
One of Morris Catholic’s guiding principles is to ensure its education is available to as many young people as possible. That requires a robust endowment. Endowed scholarships are the means by which the school is able to open its doors to worthy students.
An endowed scholarship can be created with a gift of $25,000 or more, payable over five years, and can be named for the benefactor or in honor or memory of someone. A $25,000 endowed scholarship generates enough in earnings to award an individual student scholarship each and every year.
Directly touch a student’s life by choosing to endow a scholarship.
"My decision to establish the seed funding for the 1st Morris Catholic High School endowment is based on three things: To honor my parents for their financial sacrifice to help me realize my dreams of getting a Morris Catholic Education. To express my gratitude, to my parents and to Morris Catholic, for my moral compass that guides me through life. To establish a financial base that Morris Catholic can prudently invest to generate scholarships for years to come. To anyone reading this who is thinking about setting up an endowment, I enthusiastically endorse doing it during your lifetime. Since establishing this endowment, I get to see how the gift that honors my parents, honors too, the school's students, faculty, and staff." - Joyce Murray Sullivan '73, The Carolyn & Thomas Murray Scholarship for the Fine and Performing Arts, $100,000 endowment gift
Nothing signals progress and planning for the future better than new construction. A Health and Fitness Center coming to the Morris Catholic High School campus will capture attention. Designed to support the physical conditioning and emotional health of all students, the 15,000-square-foot, two-story, well-equipped facility will beckon students to get in the gym and exercise – a key consideration of the donors – an alumnus and his spouse – in making a $2.5 million gift to help fund the project.
The facility will feature new comprehensive weights and benches, and an expansive set of cardio equipment including treadmills, rowing machines, and recumbent and stationary bikes. The inviting, naturally lit space due to a 24-foot-tall glass wall, overlooks the football field.
Be part of shaping the school to better serve our students and athletes by making a gift toward the Health and Fitness Center. Opportunities to name a space within the facility exist.
"We wanted to make an immediate impact, to prepare our youth for today’s challenges. We were especially interested in providing a high quality, state-of-the-art facility for the Morris Catholic student to thrive physically, mentally, academically, and spiritually, resulting in a truly abundant life." Teaching students in new ways is central to the new planned Innovation Lab. The state-of-the art space will allow students to apply what they learn across STEM disciplines, and physically create and innovate. This project speaks to Morris Catholic’s commitment to continuously evolve the curriculum to keep it relevant for those students with an interest in science and engineering.
The facility will introduce students to the latest technology – such as laser printers and CNC machines – and hand tools.
The facility will also be a working lab for the school’s award-winning, robot-conquering, robotics program. This program continues to draw in new students and is popular because of the hands-on experience it offers.
Help stir the scientific minds of students by making a gift to create and equip the Innovation Lab.
"Supporting STEM and the Innovation Lab at Morris Catholic is an investment in our students' futures. It's an opportunity to unlock the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit and problem solving skills within our students -- valuable qualities in today's world.”— William Pote ‘85
A healthy annual fund makes a real difference in a school’s operation. It’s needed so Morris Catholic can offset operating costs and balance its budget. It is a source of financial stability. It carries a heavy load and enables outstanding instruction and skill- and confidence-building experiences across the spectrum, including athletics, clubs, and school plays.
Choose to financially strengthen Morris Catholic through a gift of any size to the Fund for Morris Catholic. Recurring gifts (monthly or annually) or multi-year gifts (a commitment paid over five years) let us know we can count on that income.
