Cross Country

The Crusader Cross Country team is centered behind the belief that all athletes can work hard and improve, all athletes contribute to the success of the team, and all athletes experience the feeling of accomplishment brought about by personal and team success.

Recent Accomplishments: 

2023 Season

  • At the NJACs small school meet the girls team placed 2nd of 19 complete teams - losing only to Villa Walsh, and tying for our highest finish since 1999.

  • At Counties, the girls placed 12th of 22 complete teams.

  • The girls won the Garret Invitational on September 23, battling cold and rain (and hills!) to beat out the other 8 teams competing.

  • The girls also placed 3rd at the NJCTC Non-Public B championship race on October 28th.

  • Girls All Conference Honors: First team: Kate Veivia; Second team: Sarah Hoff; Honorable Mention: Kacie Krauland

  • Boys All Conference Honors: First team: Colin Shepard; Honorable Mention: William Trousdale

  • Girls All County Honors: Kate Veivi

2022 Season

  • At the NJACs small school meet the girls placed 3rd of 11 complete teams 

  • At Counties, the girls placed 8th of 17 complete teams - tied for our highest finish since 1998

  • Our best 1-5 team average of 21:11 was achieved at both the County championship and the NJAC championship and was third best in school history

  • We placed 2nd out of 12 teams in the Varsity Girls B division at the Stewart Invitational at Oak Ridge Park in Clark on  September 24th

  • The girls also placed 3rd at the NJCTC Non-Public B championship race on October 29th.

  • Girls All Conference Honors: First team: Lisa Veivia, Kate Veivia; Second team: Sarah Hattan, Sarah Hoff; Honorable Mention: Ashlin Bowler

  • Boys All Conference Honors: Second team: Dominick DeMarco; Honorable Mention: Tyler Geddes

About the Coaches:

Coach Christian began coaching cross country at Morris Catholic in the fall of 2017. She is a USATF Level One certified and NFHS accredited interscholastic coach who previously coached track at Mount Olive High School. She is a lifelong runner and marathoner who ran for Providence College (B.A., M.B.A), still runs competitively, and  enjoys running with the Morris Catholic team. Coach Christian is an Academic Dean and the English department chairperson at Morris Catholic.  She and her husband John have three grown daughters, Mariah, Sara, and Allie, who are also runners and competed at Marist, Bucknell, and Holy Cross, respectively.

Amy Veivia, Assistant Boys & Girls Varsity Coach

Coach Amy became Assistant Coach for Morris Catholic’s cross country team in 2023.  She ran Cross Country and Track in high school and completed two marathons in her thirties. She was the Assistant Coach for the Roxbury Recreation Cross Country and Track teams from 2013 to 2021. She recently retired from the FBI where she had an ancillary role as a Physical Fitness Advisor where she administered yearly physical fitness exams to FBI Special Agents and recruits hoping to enter the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Today, Coach Amy enjoys her outdoor runs with the MC team and taking Orange Theory Fitness classes.
