About the Team
The Morris Catholic Girls' basketball team has been a dominant force in their conference for many years and continues to add to the school's history of success. In their first year with an entirely new coaching staff, the program continued to compete at the highest levels in the state while representing the core values of Morris Catholic. The coaching staff, led by Billy Lovett, stressed excellence both on and off the court and the results were the culmination of a laser focus, hard work and a commitment to team. The season ended on a high note competitively and witnessed many of the graduating seniors receiving scholarships.
The 2018/19 team finished the season with a 18 -9 final record while playing 8 top 30 teams in the state. The strength of schedule, while challenging, proved invaluable in creating a true team environment with the goal of competing and succeeding at the highest levels of the state. The Crusaders won the Bound Brook Christmas Tournament, were Conference champions and went all the way to the State Sectional championship game losing to the TOC Runner-Up Saddle River Day.
Our team and season success was also supported with some incredible recognition of our individual players. Mimi Rubino and Danielle Mills were voted 1st team All-Conference and All-County. Emma Duerr was voted All-Conference and 2nd-team All-County and Feyisara Idera was voted All-Conference.
