Experiential Learning

The AMI students got to take part in 10 different workshops- which included hands-on activities like Micro-pipetting, Suiting up to work in a BioHazards Chemical Lab Suit, and taking on Different tasks in Augmented Reality. The Field Trip is part of an ongoing partnership with Novartis, started by AMI Director- Ms. Priyanka. The 65 students met/interacted with laboratory/research scientists to learn about everything from cancer research (CAR T-Cell Therapy) to biohazard storage to PPE (Personal protective equipment) to blood transfusions and cell sample analysis. AMI Students attended the Drone Workshop on Weds 11/20. AMI Partnered with Alpha Aviation/Alpha Drones who brought over a variety of their drone machines (ranging in value from $200-$45000) to school along with 3 certified drone pilots. Students learnt about the practical use of drones first along with safety instructions- and then they were off! AMI Students tried out the FPV (first person view) and then got to fly one of 6 different camera drones around the school area! Truly a birds eye view and an eye-opening experience for one and all! 

AMI students attended the Annual Pumpkin Sling @Picatinny Arsenal on Fri 10/25. This was Morris Catholic AMI’s first time at the Pumpkin Sling and in order to attend - AMI had to build their own catapult/trebuchet machine capable of flinging 2lbs-5lbs sized pumpkins. A design idea, helped with parental support and significant hard work and time spent by AMI sophomores, juniors, and seniors resulted in our final machine. After several trials and learning from the mistakes of each one here, Morris Catholic’s AMI team was able to successfully shoot a pumpkin 45meters (about 150ft).
