Morris Catholic High School is a college preparatory school. Each year, over 95% of our students go on to attend four year colleges. With this in mind, our guidance counselors help students to develop a college preparation plan.
th Grade: Counselors meet with students to make sure they are taking appropriate courses that will allow them to be successful and meet college requirements. The Director of Guidance also meets with 9th grade parents prior to students choosing their sophomore year courses to give parents an insight into the college application process and to explain how the courses their children take will impact their college plans.
th Grade: Counselors continue to meet with students to make sure that they are on an academic path that will open as many college opportunities as possible. Students begin to explore academic topics they may want to study in college.
th Grade: Students have the opportunity to meet with the dozens of college admissions representatives who visit our school. The whole class attends a major college fair where they are exposed to over 300 colleges. The Director of Guidance also meets with the parents in January to provide them with a specific college search plan and to answer any questions parents may have about the college search and application process.
th Grade: Students work closely with their counselor as they prepare and submit their college applications. Students are able to meet with college admissions representatives who visit our school throughout the fall. The Director of Guidance also meets with parents to review the application process. In addition, the Guidance Department hosts informational seminars regarding financial aid and completing the FAFSA.
