Performing Arts Returns from Nationals!

Posted July 30, 2012

16 members of MC's performing arts troupe 23 attended the Educational Theatre Association National Thespian Festival this June in Lincoln, Nebraska. The event includes schools from all over the country who have qualified at the state level. Morris Catholic was one of 20 schools selected to perform a selection from their own productions. They were invited because of their performance of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town," MC's 2011 Fall Drama, but the students performed a selection from Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" a play which they will be staging in full this November. The students were also invited to compete in the National Individual Event Showcase, performing "One Day More" from Les Miserables.

Angelica Parisi (2012) and Stephanie Wilson (2012) were invited to compete in the Musical Theatre Duo competition in the Showcase, and received a ranking of Superior at the National level.

Three of our rising seniors, Erin Franson, Kelly Appelmann and Elizabeth Scarpone participated in a College Audition event, where they auditioned before a panel of judges from 50 different performing arts programs from colleges all over the country.

Stephanie Wilson of the class of 2012 also won a prestigious Performance Scholarship from the Educational Theatre Association.
