Morris Catholic Summer Institute

Morris Catholic offers a range of summer programs that range from algebra refresher courses to fine and preforming arts.  Each year we plan to offer new programs under the umbrella of our Summer Institute as the Morris Catholic student and faculty community grows.  Please see below for a list and brief description of the 2013 Summer Institute program available at Morris Catholic.

Title: Study Skills & Technology: Preparing Students for High School

Grades: Class of 2017 

Instructor: Various Morris Catholic Faculty

Week: Week of June 42, 3012

Time: 8:30 – 12pm

Cost: $300

 Description:  Program for rising 8th & 9th graders that focuses on specific skills which will give them a head start on their high school academic career.  Teachers from various curriculum will engage students in out of the box exercises which integrate high school study skills and technology.  Students will have the opportunity to learn specific examples of skills they will need to hit the ground running as a high school student.  


 

 

Title: Algebra 1 Refresher 

Instructor: Mrs. Wintle

Week: July, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10 2013

Time: 9:00 – 12:00

Cost: $250

Description:

Are you worried about how much you remember from Algebra 1? Think you might be overwhelmed in the first weeks of Algebra 2? Then this is the session for you! Algebra 1 Refresher is designed for the freshman or sophomore Geometry student who is about to enter Algebra 2 at any level. The major topics of Algebra 1 will be reviewed, providing you with a smoother transition to the more difficult topic of Algebra 2. Topics to be reviewed will include but are not limited to graphing, solving linear equations and inequalities, writing equations of lines, solving and graphing quadratic equations, and factoring. Students should come to the sessions with a notebook, pencil, and calculator. Be ready to work hard!
