For the Advanced Student
Students who are invited to enroll in the Magna Corda program have shown that they are dedicated to excellence and wish to remain so throughout their high school careers. They are willing to take the most difficult courses, obtain grade point averages that are higher than required by the National Honor Society, and complete additional work that will compliment their course of study.
Freshmen with scores in the 90th percentile and above in all areas on the co-op will be invited to join the program if they choose to enroll in all honors level courses available to them. Four such courses are offered to freshmen – history, math, science and English. Freshmen will be given leadership development at several points during their first year so that they may transition quickly from “newbies” to leaders.
Sophomores in the program must have maintained a 3.75 GPA in their freshman year and must qualify for and enroll in honors level courses in history, math, science and English. Transfer sophomores will have their records reviewed and may be invited to participate in the program.
Juniors in the program must have maintained a 3.75 GPA in their freshman and sophomore years and must qualify for and enroll in honors level courses in history, math, science, English and a world language (should they opt for a third year in world language). Juniors must also begin to develop a research project in their primary area of interest.
Seniors must enter their final year of high school with a 3.75 GPA and must be enrolled in honors level English as well as whatever other honors course are available to them in their relevant subjects. They must also complete a senior thesis on the topic chosen and developed in their junior year.

All students will participate in various field trips throughout the school year designed to enhance their high school learning experience. The cost of these field trips in covered in the annual fee.
